A game-changer in true sense, Rishabh Pant is one of the most destructive batters in world cricket currently. A clean
striker of the ball, Pant has the ability to destroy any bowling attack at will and win matches on his
own.
A promising talent from Delhi, Pant came into the limelight after his batting heroics for India
Under-19 in the 2016 World Cup. A flamboyant left-handed wicketkeeper batter, Pant garnered everyone's attention at
the Under-19 World Cup with a blistering 24-ball 75, the fastest half-century of the tournament, against Nepal and
followed it up with a century against Namibia. He finished as India's second-highest run-getter in the tournament
(267 runs from 6 matches).
A year after making his Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 18 years and 18 days
in 2015, Pant broke records by scoring a triple-hundred against Maharashtra and a blistering 48-ball hundred against
Jharkhand in the 2016-17 first-class season. He became the fourth-youngest triple centurion in First-Class cricket
at the age of 19 years and 12 days.
In January 2017, he was rewarded with a call-up to India's T20 squad
for the three home matches against England. He made his ODI debut against the West Indies in the 2018 home series.
He made his Test debut on the 2018 England tour and scored a fighting fourth-innings century (114 off 146) in chase
of 464. That innings laid down the marker, and since then, the Southpaw has gone on to conjure many magical innings
in the longest format of the game: 159* in Sydney 2019, 97 in Sydney 2021, 89* in Brisbane 2021, 100* in Cape Town
2022, 146 in Birmingham 2022, 93 in Mirpur 2022. Four out of his five Test hundreds have come away from home. In
2022, Pant, at the age of 24 years and 248 days, became the second-youngest Indian to captain in T20Is when he led
the team out against South Africa in the Delhi T20I. The immensely talented left-handed batter has put his hand up
when the situation demands it—in difficult conditions, on difficult pitches. He scores crucial runs and is India's
crisis man who comes to the rescue whenever the team needs him.
