Mohammad Siraj is one of world cricketās most skillful and aggressive fast bowlers, renowned for his rapid evolution and adaptability. As the gameās demands have shifted, Siraj has continuously expanded his repertoireāmastering inswing, outswing, cutters, the back-of-the-hand slower ball, and the wobble-seam delivery. This diverse skill set makes him an unpredictable threat and keeps batters constantly guessing.
Siraj burst into prominence during the 2016ā17 Ranji Trophy season, finishing as the tournamentās highest wicket-taker with 41 wickets for Hyderabad in only his second year. His rapid rise earned him an India T20I debut against New Zealand in Rajkot in November 2017. He went on to make his ODI debut against Australia in 2019, and a year later, his Test debut in Melbourne during the 2020ā21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. There, he impressed immediatelyāpicking up five wickets in the match and playing a crucial role in Indiaās historic series Test series win on Australian soil.
Siraj soon emerged as a potent ODI bowler, especially in the powerplay. In January 2023, he became the No. 1 ranked ODI bowler in the world. Later that year, he produced a sensational spell of 6/21āhis best ODI figuresāin the Asia Cup final, decimating Sri Lanka at home. He also featured in the 2023 ICC Menās Cricket World Cup, forming a formidable trio with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, which significantly strengthened Indiaās bowling attack. In 2024, Siraj was selected for the ICC Menās T20 World Cup and played all matches in the USA leg, contributing to Indiaās title-winning campaign.
Sirajās stature grew even further in the 2025 Test series against England, known as the AndersonāTendulkar Trophy. Leading the pace attack, he claimed 23 wickets across all five Tests, showcasing outstanding fitness, intensity, and commitment. His relentless spells and big-hearted performances earned him the popular moniker āLion Heart,ā as he played a pivotal role in helping India secure a memorable series draw on English soil.
