Rohit Sharma becomes ICC Men’s Number One ODI Batter for the first time

Team India opening batter Rohit Sharma scaled the summit of the ICC Men's ODI batting rankings for the first time in his illustrious career, following a brilliant performance in the ODI series against Australia, where he was adjudged the Player of the Series with 202 runs from three matches.

The 38-year-old former Team India captain scored a gritty 73(97) in the second ODI in Adelaide, before crafting a masterful 121(125) with 13 fours and three sixes to guide Team India to a nine-wicket victory in the third and final ODI in Sydney. Rohit also completed a major milestone of 50 international centuries in the process.

Rohit has been a consistent presence in the top 10 rankings for the majority of the last decade and held the No. 3 spot before the Australia series. He went past Team India captain and teammate Shubman Gill and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran to claim the top spot with 781 ranking points.

Rohit now has 11,370 ODI runs to his name, including 33 centuries and 59 half-centuries, and a healthy average of 49.22.
